Abstract

In our country, greenhise industry started several years ago, but farmers do not get much profit, despite of destruction of the environment by consuming a lot of energy at the production process. In this research, the field cultivation of tomato and the energy used are compared with the energy used in the greenhouse. The results obtained in the field of energy consumption in both types of direct and indirect energy, like fuel consumtion, labour, electricity, fertilizer, pesticide etc, showed that total energy use for conventional system was 73/81 Gjol/ha and for greenhouse system was 225/89 Gjol/ha. For conventional system the most used energy input was electricity and second was fertilizer, and for greenhouse natural gas was first and disel was second. Althoughenrgy using was much higher for greenhouse system, but total income was tree time’s hifger of greenhouse production of tomato compared to field production. Off course the most important factor to achieve higher income is selling time of product at autumn, winter and spring which field tomato is rarely at market. At the end, greenhouse production system may be a better methods in th region, but some innovation like sustainable energy system or optimum designing parameters in the structures and buildings should be used.
